The month of May is upon us, which tends to be the busiest month of the sand
drag racing season. NSDN will be at three big events in this month with Daily
Race Coverage. This will kick off May 13-15 with coverage from the Mertens
Heavy Equipment Repair Springnational Sand Drags at the Mohave County Fairgrounds
in Kingman, AZ. This event looks like it’s going to be a
great west coast event to close out the first half of the season, before taking
a Summer Break. I want to thank all of the individuals that made the coverage
of this event possible; Hammer Down Racing (Dennis Rieck), 2 Dolla’ Bill/Heavy
Metal Racing (Rick & Billy Morris), Kingman Sand Drags/Route 66 Wings &
Wheels, Coldwater Kid T/F (Dwight & Matthew Ludlow), and Swag Racing (Mike
Erwin). NSDN has sponsorship spots available for the Fall West Coast races,
feel free to e-mail me for more info if you want to be involved & ensure
coverage from these events.
The second stop of the month will be May 20-21
as NSDN heads to Cleves, OH for the Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) Season
Opener. This is always a great event as Dave Ohmer & the IOK 4-Wheelers
crew does a great job prepping the track. All of their hard work paid off with
the renovations to the track surface, and it should be better than ever in
2011. Complete information on this event can be found at http://www.protrucknationals.com/ptn2011-race1factsheet.
Rounding out the month of May will be the Heartland Nationals at Atoka Motorsports
Park in Atoka, OK
May 27-29. Traditionally, this is one of the great events of the sand drag
season. These guys put on a top notch event with some of the best hospitality
you will find anywhere. I would like to thank Rod & Dee Trower as well as Atoka Motorsports
Park for coming on board
with the Coverage of this event. It should be an excellent weekend, and well
worth the trip.
There’s no rest for the weary as NSDN only has one weekend off after Atoka
before heading to Little Sandy Raceway in Grayson,
KY for the second PTN point
series event of the season. Jim & Gay Johnson do an incredible job with
their facility, and we are all looking forward to the trip to Kentucky.
I want to thank everyone with their help with the Nostalgia segments. With the
hectic schedule coming up, it will be a while until the next segment will be
posted, but it will be back and better than ever once things calm down.
Anyways, I sure hope everyone enjoys the upcoming Race Coverage’s. If you have
any feedback, questions, or info to pass along, feel free to e-mail me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Until next month…
