The final day of the 2012 SCSDA April Fuels warmed up the crowd on a chilly afternoon in Southern California with some thrilling racing action at the Soboba Casino. Todd Kinney broke into the win column for the first time in Top Eliminator with his Team Under The Influence/Rialto Trophy Blown Alcohol Jeep defeating Paul Graham in the final round. Another big story was Scott Whipple coming back from literally exploding a rear tire on his first round bye to taking the Top Fuel win with a great 2.29 to defeat Shane Sanford. Gary Mink continued his stranglehold on the Top Alcohol class with another final round win over Scott Carroll. Aaron Mamer edged out Art Cronin in the Fast Fours final to win the April Fuels race for the second year in a row. Washington’s Carey Mahoney had the Big Time Altered dialed into the 2’s all weekend en route to the Pro Mod Unlimited title. Another huge winner was George Amos, who scored titles in two vastly different categories with two different vehicles (Pro 2 & Motorcycle Pro 2). Other bracket winners on the day included Justin Adamson (Pro 1), Wes Johnson (Pro 3), Christian Payne (Motorcycle Pro 1), and Ryan Rodriguez (Junior Dragster). *ALL Run Sheets are now posted!!!*

Day 2 of the 2012 April Fuels event at the Soboba Casino in San Jactino, CA saw cool weather, which meant great horsepower conditions. CANIDAE Racing’s Scott Whipple put that great air to use by laying down a track record 2.27 to lead the field in Top Fuel. Defending class champion only made one clean run in qualifying, but it was good enough to put him in the top spot with a 2.52. Washington’s Carey Mahoney ran a stellar 2.87 with his Big Time Altered to top the qualifying list in Pro Mod Unlimited. Friday’s top qualifiers Billy Morris (Top Eliminator) and Brian Chapman (Fast Fours) held on to their respective #1 qualifying positions. Bracket class winners on the day included Kermit Larby (Sportsman 1), Michael Wright (Sportsman 2), Christian Payne (Motorcycle Sportsman 1), and Caleb Mings (Motorcycle Sportsman 2).

Scott Whipple stole the show during Day 1 of the 2012 April Fuels SCSDA race at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Scott ran a great 2.44/160MPH blast to lead the Top Fuel category. Another Scott, Scott Carroll took the top spot in Top Alcohol with a stellar 2.600 run. 2012 Race 1 Winner Billy Morris accomplished a major feat in Top Eliminator as he ran a perfect 2.950 to lead the pack. Billy’s run clinches him the top qualifying spot as well as the Perfect Run bonus points. Short Fuse Racing’s Brian Chapman led the Fast Fours with a sizzling 2.806 while Bob Gill led the Pro Mod Unlimited category with a 3.00. Sportsman eliminations as well as final qualifying for the heads-up classes is on tap for Saturday.
