Saturday

Saturday featured the annual Hill Climbs event to kick off the 2018 Las Vegas Jeep Club Sand Drags & Hill Climbs at the Dumont Dunes. The hotly contested X600 Unlimited Hill Climb class came down to an Uphill Drag battle between cousins Justin Adamson and KC Springer. KC looked to get a small starting line advantage, but it would be Adamson reaching the finish line first in a great battle. The X400 Jeep class came down to a “Turtle Crawl” tie breaker with three Adamson’s (Chris, Justin and Jeff) as well as Chris Calafiore. Chris Adamson showed his expertise on the Turtle Crawl as he took the victory. Adamson would also show off his driving skill taking the X200 Jeeps “Turtle Crawl” tie breaker with his "Bounty Hunter" Jeep over Chris Calafiore. The Modified UTV’s put on a great show on the hill with Stephen Chase scoring first place in the category. The Slalom event featured some solid driving skill on the hill with Wes Gilmore Jr. recording the fastest time for Jeeps & Stephen Chase having the quickest UTV in this event. Wendy Thompson scored the X600 Unlimited Women’s class victory in the Terminator Jeep. Other winners on the day included Jon Warren (X500 Jeeps), Andrew Argenteri (XX400 Trucks), Jack Weddle (X300, A & B Jeeps), Larry Calafiore (E Jeeps) and Doug Thompson (F Jeeps). Sunday’s racing action will feature the 300’ sand drag event with a full slate of classes.
