2019 Fall-Winter

National Sand Drag News has officially closed for business after 13 years of sand drag racing coverage. The site will still stay online for archival purposes. We will also keep the 2020 California Sand Drag Challenge Points page updated. Feel free to scroll through our News & Daily Race Coverage Archives (dating back to 2007) listed below. Thank you to all of the great friends & supporters across the country over the years.

NSDN is saddened to report the recent passing of longtime sand drag racer Mike Dzek after a lengthy illness. “Motorcycle Mike”, as he was known by most, lived in New Mexico and has been a staple of west coast sand drags since the 80's. Mike's trademark Motorcycle featured a unique setup with one large Skat-Trak style paddle tire on the back of it. Mike won many races in the Motorcycle-powered categories on the west coast, eventually traveling to tracks as far away as Oklahoma and Michigan. In recent years, Mike had moved over to a more traditional vehicle with a Big Block Chevy-powered Dragster that had previously been owned by longtime racing friend Keith Ahart. Just like with the bike, it didn't take long for Mike to find success. Mike will not only be remembered for his on track performance, but also what an amazing guy he was off the track. After a long day of racing, Mike was often found in fellow racer's pit areas helping get them back on track. “Motorcycle Mike” will be greatly missed by all. We send our condolences to Mike's family & racing friends in this difficult time.
